The Planfait takeoff site, located at low altitude, usually offers reliable updrafts by late morning. While the pilots at Col de Forclac are still struggling with the weak thermals, the rising air bubbles are already gushing out at Planfait. It is also possible to do some excellent soaring here. In the afternoon, it is usually not possible to take off anymore, because the valley wind, which is usually very strong, also reaches the lower slopes.
