The Unternberg offers good thermals.
Super view into the lowlands and the Alps.
In the afternoon, the wind usually blows reliably from the north.
In the evening you can soar quite reliably at the Unternberg.
With a little altitude it is enough to jump over the valley to the Rauschberg.
South launch site is challenging due to trees in front of it, only suitable for experienced pilots.

Take-offs and landings at the practice slopes only in coordination with the flight schools.

1. for the training operation the take-off area "Unternberg-Süd" is only to be used at wind forces up to 10 km/h. The wind direction at the take-off site must be 165° + - 20°.
2. wind direction indicators must be available at exposed locations.
3. in case of valley winds above 15 km/h, training operations must be stopped.
4. pilots are to be informed by briefing or information board that in case of take-offs from the south take-off must depart in time to the landing site "Hinterpoint - Fuchsau" (jet effect Rauschberg / Unternberg).
