Hill site for paragliders and hanggliders

https://www.oal-gs.de/

Interesting flying site for thermal flying and soaring - accessible by cable car. Popular with easterly winds in spring. In general, the Breitenberg is not a very easy terrain. The launch sites are alpine and the correct assessment of the wind situation on site is necessary. However, the Breitenberg is more tranquil than the neighboring Tegelberg. The launch site Engerle is located next to the path to the Breitenberg summit. The main launch site is the Kesselmoos on an alpine meadow with cattle corridors and stones. Info at the Ostallgäuer hang glider and paraglider pilots. From noon on often northerly wind! Ascent with Breitenbergbahn and chairlift. Flight area information at the valley station. Ascent with the cable car only after showing the license and the insurance certificate. The distance of at least 50 m from the cable car must be observed.

Föhn situation: The Pfronten Flight School will hoist a red flag at the flight school in case of a pressure difference of more than 4 hPa. It should be a recommendation to refrain from flying for safety reasons: https://www.flugschule-pfronten.de/die-rote-fahne/

Conditions of the Breitenbergbahn (as of May 2014)
- valid flight license
- valid liability insurance, in case of tandem pilots with declared passenger liability
- green briefing card
- current tandem permit (tandem pilots of approved
flight schools)
- entry in the flight logbook
- Student pilots of the approved flight schools must show the corresponding student ID card.
