The Wallberg offers good flying conditions with wind from west to north with impressive scenery for soaring and thermal flights over the Tegernsee. In good flying weather, there is always a lot of flying activity here. In the DHV-XC the Wallberg is often the starting point for long distances. The route to Kössen (Bodenschneid - Bayerischzell - Kufstein) is flown relatively often. With north wind you can also fly over the Blauberge to the Achensee and further to the Zillertal. For the latter flight the base should be high, because you have to fly over a lot of forest in the Blauberge. HG ramps at the summit for takeoff direction N,W, S. Kites land at Cafe Kreuz. Main GS launch at Kircherl (west of the top station). Alternative launch at Alm (but is turbulent especially in the afternoon). Dangerous leeward situation with east wind!
Around the Wallberg (e.g. at the Bodenschneid) the golden eagle breeds regularly. Avoid nesting areas! Information in the showcase at the valley station!
The DGCTT is the terrain owner and organizes the flight operations (take-off and landing areas). The daily membership can be bought at the cable car ticket office and is used for the maintenance of the area.
Currently, there are no Flying Initiatives.
