The Choralpe near Westendorf has everything to offer that makes our flying hearts so happy. High mountains, the unique natural landscape of the Kitzbühel Alps, beautiful take-off sites and a large landing area. To get to the launching sites in the summer is a walk of about 15 minutes. The west launch site is large and somewhat undulating. However, it offers easy space for several gliders to take off. The north launch site, on the other hand, is narrower and steeper. Disciplined pilots can only launch 2 gliders at a time here.
It is easiest to find thermals here from late morning onwards, mainly to the right of the west launch site. If the thermals are good, routes can be made especially in the direction of Pinzgau. But also in dynamic westerly winds, the ridge that stretches to the left and right of the west launch site is interesting for soaring.
