Hill site for paragliders and hanggliders

Everyone wonders why this world famous flying field is mentioned here? It is the starting point for a combination of two or three flying fields that can be flown on a day trip. The East Ridge at St Hilaire provides early updrafts on light wind days. Along the towering limestone flanks, one flies north or south as desired. The steep ramp of the kite is almost reminiscent of a cliff takeoff. If the sun is above the zenith, the flying sites of Allevard, Val Pellouse, Chamaux or L'Ebaudiaz are available to you on the way back to Lake Annecy. If the west wind is light, it is worthwhile to go to the lake of Aiguebelette. The flight along the Crêtes to the north to the Dent du Chat and back rewards the extra miles. (Text Kai Ehrenfried)
