The Engelberg valley is a real alternative to the flying areas in the Allgäu and the middle Alps. The journey from the south of Germany takes just 2-3 hours. Depending on the wind direction, pilots are offered 4 launch sites. The only shortcoming of the terrain becomes clear when looking at the landing sites. The main GS landing site at the valley station of the cable car is located on a slope and is often thermally active. With a little practice and some experience, however, no problem. Especially since you save a long walk from the landing site to the runway here. The hang gliders will be able to sing a song about it. Without a car or a ride service, the landing site does not exactly deserve the designation "near and good", but it is pleasantly large. If the GS landing site at the Schützenhaus is active, you can share the fate of the long way to the mountain railroad with the hang gliders and hover in there next to the hang glider landing site. In contrast to the slope landing, this landing variant is always less stressful. Only if the flag is hanging out at the shooting house caution is required. The Swiss also shoot sharply! Otherwise the aircraft will soon look like a Swiss cheese.
Currently, there are no Flying Initiatives.
